What a round-up costs, when you are charged, and what happens if you pause or want your data gone.
What does a round-up actually cost me?
The difference between your purchase and the next whole dollar. A $1.89 coffee rounds up 11 cents. A $2.00 purchase rounds up nothing, because it is already a whole dollar.
When am I charged?
Once a month, or as soon as your accrued balance reaches $10, whichever happens first. Your dashboard shows every round-up and every charge as it happens.
Can anyone at RealChange see my bank login?
No. The connection runs through Plaid and is read-only. It is used to calculate round-ups and nothing else. Card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers.
What happens if I pause?
Collection stops immediately. Round-ups keep accruing so nothing is lost, unless you unlink the account entirely.
What if a purchase is refunded?
The round-up is clawed back from your current pot. Your pot never goes below zero.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Submit a removal request and your record is deleted within 30 days.
What is a tzedakah?
Tzedakah is the Hebrew word for charitable giving. On this site it means the registered 501(c)(3) organization you choose to receive your round-ups.
Does RealChange keep any of the money?
No. What is collected in a cycle is paid out in that cycle. Card processing takes its own fee, and the payout report shows the amount the organization actually receives.
